WORKING WITH OWNERS

James works with owners at various stages of their buying, development, or renovation cycle. He helps to identify what their outcomes and aspirations are for the property - whether that be for an investment or for the creation of their dream home.


Using his extensive experience as a builder, investor, and developer, James provides practical and beautiful solutions that don't just focus on maximizing the property space and value, but also take into consideration how an individual, couple, or family wants to live their lives. Taking a human-centered approach, he ensures that how they want to 'live' is incorporated into their plans, increasing the flow and energy of everyday life for his clients.

WORKING WITH BUYER'S AGENTS

James supports many buyer's agents who work to find the right property for their clients. Buyer's agents traditionally focus on reviewing things such as location, size of property, negotiation, and strategy aspects. James compliments their skill set and supports the agents by assessing whether a property has the elements required to create the perfect location for their clients. His assessments incorporate factors such as investment and renovation potential, floor plan flow, natural light, and design elements that can enhance the way of life the clients will have in the house. It also involves identifying potential risks or unforeseen issues that may occur due to bad building practices. 

WORKING ON HERITAGE BUILDINGS WITH HOMEOWNERS' ASSOCIATIONS, ARCHITECTS, ENGINEERS, AND OWNERS

Heritage buildings provide their own unique challenges. The United States has many beautiful heritage buildings but with the ever-changing heritage legislation and a lack of qualified consultants and builders with experience and skills in this area, James provides the experience and skills to support his client with any heritage challenges they face.
 

As a builder who honed his skills in Europe on centuries-old castles and heritage buildings, James learned the traditional methods required for stone, woodwork, and structure. He knows how the structures were originally built, giving him a deep understanding and insight into how to save and restore them.
 

James has many examples of where third parties believed there was no solution to the building challenge and he has been able to bring a practical approach to renovation, restoration, and preservation and save the building using traditional methods and innovative solutions.

WORKING WITH DEVELOPERS

James works with a number of developers on larger-scale projects when they need advice on renewable energy and passive design, and build techniques to help create self-sufficient buildings and resorts. His approach produces longer-term value for the building and land. As a result, the building earns money for the owners over its lifespan.

Combining his experience and knowledge across carbon offsetting, Passive House building methods, and extensive construction experience, James adds value by not only providing innovative long-term solutions to any construction challenge, but every design and construction decision is approached with the environment and sustainability in mind.
