PROJECT SUMMARY

One of the most challenging but rewarding projects James and his team have worked on. When James was asked to tender for the work on this house, it was a daunting project as it was on the brink of falling down. The advice of other engineers and contractors was to pull it down. However, with the vision of the owner, James and his team set out to rebuild and preserve the beautiful house and features like the magnificent staircase and restored the entire house to its former glory.

This was by far one of the most challenging projects James has ever done but is by far the most rewarding. James is proud to say, they saved this piece of history.

PROJECT CHALLENGE

• To rebuild and preserve a historic house and all of its period features

• The structure was nearing collapse

• There was an open sewer impacting the foundations 

• The building's structural issues were impacting the surrounding buildings

WHY THE CLIENT APPOINTED JAMES

• His experience with traditional building methods for this period of house meant that he understood how it had originally been built. This, in turn, gave James understanding and insight into how to save them​

• His experience restoring historic buildings ensured he and his team were not daunted by the challenge and took an innovative approach to saving the house, such as creating a custom-made steel frame and assembling it inside the structure of the building
