LURALINE
Bondi Beach, Australia

"After failing to get a resolution from some of the top engineering firms in Sydney, we were introduced to James and his no nonsense approach to a solution was a breath of fresh air."

PROJECT SUMMARY

Luraline is an iconic 1930s Bondi beach building and one of the first residential buildings to be built in NSW with concrete floors above ground level. The block of six apartments had been condemned by two separate engineering firms. James was engaged to develop a strategy and plan to save it from demolition. Failure to do so would have resulted in a loss of a home for three families and a displacement of over $4 million. James not only saved the entire building from demolition but was able to restore it to its former glory.

The renovations and building works were also recognized in the Waverley Heritage & Design Awards.

SIZE OF PROJECT

The project was $8.4 million and involved multiple stakeholders

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

"James went above and beyond what we thought was possible here. After failing to get a resolution from some of the top engineering firms in Sydney, we were introduced to James and his no-nonsense approach to a solution was a breath of fresh air. His approach was, 'We will find a solution'. I think this is what we all want from hiring someone to do a job for you."
